Interviews are really helpful in terms of getting a sense of your character and what comes forward in terms of top ideas. Sometimes a student will list things in terms of their activities because they feel like “x” should be most important, but then in the interview, they speak about something else first, and that’s totally fine, because that’s where we’re seeing that authentic you come through. There’s not a rubric, but rather [we gain] just another insight into your character through the interview.

I think of the interview as having two functions. One is to give a personal dimension to your application, to give a little sense of who you are, your character, your personality, what excites you, what motivates you; all of those things come out in an interview. Having the opportunity to do an interview through Vericant is a great way to enhance your application, not just for one school, but several institutions you’re applying to, so it’s a great opportunity to take advantage of to add a personal dimension to your application. In addition to that, since you’re mostly international students, [interviews] allow us to get an extra sense of your English proficiency ability. The interview will give us an additional exposure to you and give us a gauge of your English proficiency abilities in relation to your application.
